Make your helmet last
Together, Let’s Make It Last as Long as Possible

WHEN TO REPLACE YOUR HELMET
It is important to understand that the main safety element of a helmet is the expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam. This material absorbs energy by compressing the polystyrene beads filled with microscopic air pockets. Once compressed, the foam does not return to its original shape, meaning a second impact in the same spot could lead to serious injuries. For this reason, you should replace your helmet after any crash involving head impact. This could happen after three years or just three minutes into your first ride with a new helmet. To make this reality easier to accept, URGE offers a crash-replacement policy, allowing you to get a 50% discount when renewing your helmet on our website. However, if there are no crashes and the helmet is well maintained, it can last for a long time. A recommended lifespan of five years from the first use is provided as a general guideline. This is a clear and straightforward expiration marker. To extend the life of your helmet, proper maintenance is essential.

HELMET MAINTENANCE
Storage
To ensure good hygiene and extend your helmet’s lifespan, proper maintenance before storage is essential. Make sure the removable and washable liners are thoroughly cleaned, dried completely, and properly reinstalled. Before storing your helmet, ensure it is completely clean and dry. It should be kept in a dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight, to prevent material degradation. Lastly, avoid using harsh chemicals when cleaning your helmet to preserve its protective properties.
Cleaning
To effectively clean your helmet while preserving its materials, gently wash it using water and mild soap. You can clean it in a sink, bathtub, or even in the shower, carefully scrubbing it. Helmet straps should be soaked in water and cleaned with mild soap, gently rubbing them together to remove dirt. For the inner padding, hand wash with cold water and mild soap is recommended. They can also be machine washed at a low temperature on a gentle cycle, then air-dried. If your pads are too worn out, consider replacing them directly from our spare parts store.
Replacing Spare Parts
Replacing the visor
URGE helmet visors are attached either with screws or by clip-on mounts that fit into inserts on the helmet.
For clip-on visors, carefully pull each anchor point straight out to detach it.
For the pop-off visors on the Treps and Rascas models, simply lift the visor upward until it pops off. To reinstall, just repeat the process in reverse.
Replacing the padding
Most URGE helmet pads are attached with Velcro. Remove the pads by gently pulling them off while remembering their position for proper reinstallation after washing or replacement.
Replacing the rear retention system
The rear retention systems are attached with clip-on mounts, except for some children’s helmets. To remove the retention system, gently pull it out along the axis of the clips. To reinstall, simply push the clips back into their inserts. Be sure to note the position of the straps in relation to the retention system to reattach it correctly.
